Young fans were excited to meet a favourite author and illustrator

Over 700 people had the opportunity to meet author and illustrator Nick Sharratt last weekend at the opening of his exhibition, Pirates Pants and Wellyphants.

Nick was present for the day to meet families and sign their books.  Each child had the chance to chat to Nick, and he even drew an illustration in the books he signed as a momento of the occasion.

Children were able to enjoy the interactive exhibition, create puppets and crafts and even perform for their parents with their puppets.  Character-themed food was available in the museum cafe such as Wellyphant sandwiches, 'finger in the jelly' dessert and chocolate mousse for the goose.

The exhibition runs until 29th March and entry is free apart from half term. There will be charged entry during Feb half term (17 - 21 Feb) for 'What's a Wellyphant?' which includes family activities across the museum - find out more.

Exhibition opening times:

Tues - Sun (incl. Mondays on Bank Holidays and during school holidays)
10am - 5pm (last admission 4.30pm)
