Peterborough Cathedral and Shine, the charity which supports people affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus, have announced that their charity abseil on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th May has raised a total of over £37,600.

“We are absolutely thrilled with this total,” said the Very Revd Chris Dalliston, Dean of Peterborough. “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and to all the people who sponsored them.”

The funds will be shared equally between the two organisations, and will help both to maintain the 900 year old Cathedral for future generations and to provide specialist help to those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Over 100 people took part in the sponsored abseil down the north-west tower of Peterborough Cathedral. Many more came to enjoy viewing the event, and to watch a live screening of the Royal Wedding on 19th May.
