There was great excitement as the 'Dog Diaries' author visited two Peterborough schools.

October 9th was a special day for two Peterborough Schools as the children got to meet author Steven Butler, talking about his ‘Dog Diaries’ series.  Steven, a Roald Dahl Funny Prize shortlisted author, is also an actor and playwright.  Over 280 children from Middleton Primary and The Peterborough School were entertained with readings from his books, as well as drawing along with him to create their own version of his canine character Junior.

The Dog Diaries are written from the point of view of the dog Junior, who also features in James Patterson’s ‘Middle School’ series.

Research shows that children who had an author visit to their school have higher levels of reading enjoyment than their peers who didn’t receive a visit (National Literacy Trust, 2019).
